Featuring Rachel Grunberg, Director of Environmental Sustainability at The Hershey Company

In Episode 3 of From the Ground Up with Arva, we sit down with Rachel Grunberg, Director of Environmental Sustainability at Hershey, to explore what it takes to build resilient agricultural supply chains.

Rachel shares how Hershey approaches regenerative agriculture beyond individual farming practices, emphasizing the connection between soil health, climate resilience, water stewardship, biodiversity, and farmer livelihoods. She discusses why sustainability initiatives must adapt to regional realities rather than relying on uniform templates.

“We start with a simple question: will the ingredients we rely on still be grown in the places we source from, at the quality we need, and at a price we can afford? And achieving that requires a healthy ecosystem, thriving farming communities, and agricultural systems that can adapt to change.”

Together, Rachel and the Arva team explore how organizations move from high-level commitments to practical action by leveraging field-level data, strategic prioritization, and local context.
